V1.

Out in the corner of my garage

Is a dusty box of time

And memories of those sweet days

Are stored up there inside.

It’s a box of blood and sweat and tears,

And the sparks that lit the flame.

It’s hours and hours of practice

Kept from every single game.

Chorus

There’s a thousand hours of batting practice

And a million down and outs.

There’s volleys, bumps, and sets and spikes

And the golf clubs we wore out.

There’s free throws til you can’t miss.

Man I coached a lot of games.

The dusty box of time in my garage

Is where the memories remain.

V2.

The kids have all moved on in life

And the grandkids begin to come.

They haven’t really figured it out,

But the training has begun.

There’s fun in all the lessons

And we’ve got nothing left but time.

And that dusty box in the corner

Still makes memories just fine.

Chorus

There’s a thousand hours of batting practice

And a million down and outs.

There’s volleys, bumps, and sets and spikes

And the golf clubs we wore out.

There’s free throws til you can’t miss.

Man I coached a lot of games.

The dusty box of time in my garage

Is where the memories remain.
