Too Much

Too Much

V1.

In the daily grind it’s hard to find

Enough time to make ends meet

And the raise in my hourly pay

Barely covers the cost to eat.

I’m lucky to have a roof over my head

I should probably say I’m blessed.

But the truth is that I’m real concerned

‘Cos the economy is recessed

Chorus

Too much rising cost of living

Gas too high to fill the tank

Interest rates too high to buy a home

Too little money in the bank

Too much laughing to keep from crying

But I might as well be funny.

Too much stress to sleep at night

And too much month at the end of the money

V2.

The future isn’t looking bright

The stock market’s in free fall

The bears are here for dinner

The bulls backs are against the wall.

Retirement life that I had in sight

Just looks further out of reach

I’ll keep working until my days are done

Instead of lying on a beach

Chorus

Too much rising cost of living

Gas too high to fill the tank

Interest rates too high to buy a home

Too little money in the bank

Too much laughing to keep from crying

But I might as well be funny.

Too much stress to sleep at night

And too much month at the end of the money

Bridge

Everyone keeps watching to see what’s next

There’s more questions than there are answers

And all we get from Washington

Is beaurocratic cancer.

Once upon a time I’m sure we had

Far more insightful leaders

But the view we get from the house on the hill

Is just a bunch of pointing fingers.

Chorus

Too much rising cost of living

Gas too high to fill the tank

Interest rates too high to buy a home

Too little money in the bank

Too much laughing to keep from crying

But I might as well be funny.

Too much stress to sleep at night

And too much month at the end of the money
