V1.

I’ve had so much loss already

Now I sit in disbelief

White Stetson hanging in the hallway

Loneliness brings me to my knees

Time is a thief. I’m stricken with grief

As tears fill my blood shot eyes

And they fall like the rains we prayed for

To keep the spring crops alive

Chorus

What do I do? How do I cope?

Where do I go from here?

It’s a slippery slope when you lose hope

I pray God’s answer is near.

I cry and question why?

I wish there was more time to buy

But the simple answer is

We’ve started the long goodbye

V2.

In hospice when you passed me

You didn’t see me as your wife

Our memories have left your mind

And you’ve been my whole life

How will the farm and family make it

When our cowboy rides away

But I can tell you’re ready to leave us

By the helpless look on your face.

Chorus

What do I do? How do I cope?

Where do I go from here?

It’s a slippery slope when you lose hope

I pray God’s answer is near.

I cry and question why

I wish there was more time to buy

But the simple answer is

We’ve started the long goodbye

Bridge

The long goodbye is the walk of the brave

Wouldn’t wish it on my enemy

But side by side and hand in hand

I’ll walk you into eternity.

Half - Chorus

I cry and question why

I wish there was more time to buy

But the simple answer is

We’ve started the long goodbye
