V1
I just don’t love the city life
With its crowds and the fast pace
I’m jumping off the hamster wheel
And quitting the rat race.
I’ll take the peace and quiet of a small town
Where I’ve got time to relax and smile
I may not stay forever,
But I’ll be here for a while.
Chorus
Let’s start a rocking chair revival
I’ll meet you out on the front porch
We can tell all of our neighbors
And we’ll just wave back and forth
Relax and share a conversation
Spend the night just you and me.
Staying home and doing nothing
As if we lived in Mayberry.
V2
Let’s go out to a hometown ballgame
Underneath those Friday night lights.
Saturday afternoon fishing and golfing
And a fire pit on Saturday night
Dress up for Sunday morning church service
Then we’ll all meet up town for lunch.
I’d race you to the rocking chair
But I see you beat me to the punch.
Chorus
Let’s start a rocking chair revival
I’ll meet you out on the front porch
We can tell all of our neighbors
And we’ll just wave back and forth
Relax and share a conversation
Spend the night just you and me.
Staying home and doing nothing
As if we lived in Mayberry.
