Home Games

V1.

Drove by my old house as a kid and had a flashback

Sounds of summer back then played on my soundtrack

Withered yard worn with the base path tracks

I just close my eyes and I go right back

Driveway basketball in that gravel endzone

Daylight to midnight playing outside and no one had a phone

Some days I’d like to dive into that picture frame

And get back to the home games.

Chorus

Mike’s mom had a whistle and mine had a bell

We knew the game was over when Tom’s dad would yell

Some calls were loud and some were pretty tame

Funniest stuff came out of Ms. Shirley’s mouth when she called Ronnie’s name

It’s where we had our first kisses and we had our first crushes

Bunny and Joni in bikinis as we watched from the bushes

Days were fun and the nights were really good

For those home games in the neighborhood

V2.

Hide and seek Ollie Ollie Ott’s in free

Nights back home on C street were the best place to be

Endless games of tag, or Red Rover Red Rover

I always called for them to send the cutest girl over

Holding hands led to spinning the bottle

Finally got a car and life went full throttle

Neighborhood legends, our claims to fame

Lifetime memories of all those home games
