God Just Ain’t a Drive-Thru

V1.

I’d barely given him a glance

A meeting completely brought by chance

Kneeling in the corner there

Asking for his needs in prayer

He was giving his demands

Without once asking for God’s plans

He was looking to place blame

And only wanting to name and claim.

Chorus

God just ain’t a drive thru

Where you can order off the menu

You won’t always get your way

Whenever you decide to pray

Your wishes don’t control the narrative

Drop your hypothetical imperative

It’s His will that will be done

Pray for His help with what will come

V2.

I quietly kneeled there by his side

My new friend looked at me wide eyed

And he seemed a little stunned

When I said “God, may your will be done”

“Lord bring peace to his heart and mind,

and please help his heart and soul align

with your outcomes on his life

and please relieve his pain and strife.”

Chorus.

God just ain’t a drive thru

Where you can order off the menu

You won’t always get your way

Whenever you decide to pray

Your wishes don’t control the narrative

Drop your hypothetical imperative

It’s His will that will be done

Pray for His help with what will come
